Last summer I bought a 6x6 kit to be used as an outhouse. I picked up the kit from Chris Mainville who took lots of time to show me log buildings on his property and give me advice on construction. I opened the kit at home and was immediately amazed at the quality of the parts and the ingenious way the building would come together. Every part is clearly marked and the instructions are devised to help guide you through the entire process. I was on my own most of the time and having some surveying experience I took lots of time to ensure the foundation was level and the first rows went into place square and level. With this done, I was able to put the walls in place in one morning with my wife handing the boards to me. Everything is labeled and is cut to fit perfectly. After that, the roof parts went on easily and the roof and floor boards were very easy to install.
The door was hung with easy adjustable hinges. I was fortunate to have a friend with extra tin for my roof and by pre-drilling holes, I easily installed the tin roof by myself. I purchased a tank for my outhouse online. The advantage to this is that if I want to use the building as a shed, I can easily remove the tank. Along the way, I needed some clarification on the instructions and my phone calls to Chris were answered promptly and every question was answered. Everyone says that I have the nicest outhouse ever and the construction was actually a pleasure for me. I couldn’t recommend the log building more and certainly Chris was as good as could be in helping me out.
